Daniel Newport Daniel Newport is currently the Branch Chief for the Cyber Technology Development Branch in the Ground Systems Cyber Engineering (GSCE) Directorate located within the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (CCDC) Ground Vehicle Systems Center (GVSC). He has worked for the United States Army since 1991 and has held numerous positions within GVSC including Advanced Systems Concepts and Planning while developing advanced concepts for the Composite Armored Vehicle (CAV) program; GVSC Ground Vehicle Power and Mobility Research while working as the project manager on the joint Army/DARPA Combat Hybrid Power Systems (CHPS) research effort which provided hybrid-electric engine technology development for the Future Combat Systems (FCS) program; the Lead Engineer responsible for the FCS Reconnaissance and Surveillance Vehicle (RSV) within the Manned Ground Vehicle (MGV) effort; the Director of Technology for Heavy Brigade Combat Team (HBCT) within Program Executive Office (PEO) Ground Combat Systems (GCS); and Assistant Project Manager for Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) in the Ground Combat Vehicle (GCV) program within the PEO GCS.
