NextGen Rising Leaders Board
An opportunity to lead, connect and contribute to Michigan’s defense community
The NextGen Rising Leaders Board gives early and mid career professionals a practical way to build leadership experience while helping shape NDIA Michigan programs. Participants take responsibility for real work, collaborate with peers and established chapter leaders, and develop relationships across the defense community.
What you gain
- Leadership experience: Lead a committee or initiative, help make decisions, and follow an idea through planning and execution.
- A broader professional network: Work alongside peers, NDIA Michigan Board members and advisors, and people from industry, government, universities and other parts of the defense community.
- Visibility through contribution: Share your perspective, demonstrate your strengths and build a record of work that can support your professional growth.
- A voice in the Chapter: Help shape outreach, mentoring, events and other efforts that matter to emerging professionals and the future workforce.

What you will do
Members contribute to chapter priorities by supporting and delivering events and programs, and building connections with students, young professionals and the wider Michigan defense community. You will have opportunities to work with the NDIA Michigan Board and advisors, with guidance from a Chapter sponsor and program leaders.
How participation develops
The Rising Leaders Board initiative begins with a defined application and selection process, followed by orientation to roles and chapter priorities. Members will then identify as a group, priorities, expectations, roles and responsibilities aligned with agreed priorities. Members will take on initial initiatives and grow into broader responsibilities over the first year. Participation calls for an active volunteer commitment and follow through on assigned work.
